More info

The Pi-DAC PRO plugs directly on the Raspberry Pi A+/B+/2/3/3B+ AND RPi4, there’s no need to solder or modify your Raspberry Pi and you can be enjoying Full HD audio in minutes.

We've used the Texas Instruments PCM5242 DAC, the big brother of the pcm5122. Featuring balanced output, better Signal to Noise Ratio and THD. With the Linux drivers built in to Raspbian no kernel recompilation is needed and the DAC PRO is supported by all the regular audio software, just like the Pi-DAC+. It's also compatible with the Pi-AMP+

The Pi-DAC PRO also includes the Pi-DAC headphone amplifier delivering an all in one Full HD audio experience for those who listen through headphones, volume is again hardware based under software control and shared with Line Out.

With Differential / Balanced output it allows connection to studio equipment or powered speakers over long cable runs. Now you can run your disco, radio station or home studio from a Raspberry Pi!

A fully HAT compliant Raspberry Pi expansion board with EEPROM support, the Pi-DAC PRO delivers Full HD audio from your Raspberry Pi. As the Pi-DAC PRO uses the same family of audio chipset as the Pi-DAC+ and full Linux device driver support is already built into the official Raspbian Linux distribution.

  • Raspberry Pi HAT (A+/B+/2/3/3B+/4) compliant accessory
  • Pre-programmed EEPROM for auto configuration
  • Full-HD audio – up to 24-bit/192kHz playback
  • Integrated hardware volume control (via ALSA)
  • Built in High quality audio headphone amplifier (TI TPA6133A)
  • Class leading audio; 114db SNR, and -94db THD
  • Audiophile TI Burr Brown 32-bit/384kHz DAC (TI PCM5242)
  • Advanced ESD protection
  • Digital I2S audio signals
  • Raspberry Pi powered, no external power requirements
  • Industry standard audio quality Phono/RCA connectors
  • Balanced output exposed on PCB
  • Built in mini DSP
  • Full GPIO access with no soldering required
  • Fully built and tested Raspberry Pi accessory
  • Designed and manufactured in the UK

  • Supports the new XLR daughter board and XLR case
  • The Balanced output is exposed via two 3pin no fit headers. You will have to provide these yourself.
  • Uses the same IQaudIO Pi-DAC+ Linux drivers so no new software configurations needed.

Getting better

I use it with XLR kit and Rotel RC-1570, Yamaha HS8 active monitors. All I can say is that the sound is fantastic!

Very Fine DAC

I had used the DAC+ (very fine DAC itself) and since I am updating some of my system thought I would go top of the line with the DAC Pro. My Jazz is sounding very very nice! This little board rivals something much more expensive, just very good engineering on IQaudIO's part. Having the ability to use balanced XLR connection and possible DSP in the future is just a nice plus. The sound is truly audiophile grade for sure. Purchase it and I am sure you will agree.

All I can say is WOW!!!!

After much wailing and gnashing of teeth (my first Raspberry Pi build - PC System & home media network builder for years as well!) I have got this little beauty running RuneAudio. I have coupled it with a RasPi 3 B+ and it sounds brilliant. Fed through my Pioneer amp and Tannoy speakers I really think it sounds better than my Pioneer Stable Platter/Trichord Clock 2 upgraded CD Player. Lots of bottom end and a sweet treble making my Jarre 24bit FLACs ooze quality. Also Pink Floyd sounds great too!

Also a thank you to Gordon. I had ordered the wrong case and a quick courtesy call from him advising me of this saved me a lot of hassle.

Don't think too hard before buying this DAC...You will regret each minute you waste!

Tremendous value

Don't hesitate, just buy. I got this hooked up and running with Volumio off a network NAS within the hour. With only three hours of listening time between 70s progressive rock, some modern rock, and classical music, I'm super impressed. This DAC will make even older headphones spring to life. I'm curious to hear what they can do with higher-end headphones. Some of the best money I've ever spent, right here! Thanks everyone at IQAudio for all your hard work!

The SQ is very good

The SQ is very good.
I wish it has the below improvements:
1. A driver specifically written for the DAC Pro as the DAC+ uses a different chipset.
2. The case has better cooling and a bigger/better tf card cut out.

Overall it is a good product.

I cannot compare with other DAC since it is the first one I ever own, but I have to say it is impressive!!! I always prefered to have my music in physical format, but now I reconsider it and started to buy hi res albums. Again, this little machine is very impressive and I am not disapointed at all. Good job! (good costumer service too!)

This is amazing, sounds awesome, I wish I had this a year ago, would save me a lot of money for external DACs. It also looks very good with smoke case. With 125 USD(including shipping) you get something better than $700-800. So being a geek is sometimes profitable.

Now I use Pi-Dac Pro on Raspberry Pi3 board with RuneAudio player and tube power amp. After some internal tuning of RuneAudio (reducing cpu clock, SOX upsampling and so on) would like to assure that this set sounds really pretty good, even better than my portable player Fiio X5 II. I 'm impressed. Sound is clear, impressive and with good low attack. Thank you so much for this excellent device Pi-DAC Pro. But it seems to me very strange that so low information and feedbacks about this DAC in the Internet. But nevertheless I will recommend this hi quality DAC for purchaise. It can sound on a par with brand-name devices.

I can't believe it but this little thing is the best sounding hi-fi component I've ever had. My formerly beloved Marantz CD player and Musical Fidelity X-Can headphone amp are now retired because the Pi equipped with this DAC beats that combo hands down. I still can't believe it but hearing is believing and I'm a believer. Superb sound. Good with every track I've tested but try and get some well recorded, naturally miked acoustic music (anything from Chesky Records would be perfect for this) and you'll be grinning from ear to ear. I can't wait to get home tonight to rip tracks from my Mercury Living Presence CDs to play through this little beauty.

Real Class

I have been running two Squeezebox players over the last few years one connected to a pretty good dac. I got the latest PI (3) and thought I would give the audio a boost. Very glad that I did. The sound with this dac is great. I had one or two teething problems largely due to the fact that I didn't read the guide. Rather than go search on a forum I contacted Gordon direct. He responded almost immediately and got me back on track. Very happy. Now have a really good media streamer at a fraction of the cost for an over the counter product.
